Non conosciamo di preciso il rituale funebre dei Velaryon: sappiamo solo che il corpo di Corlys fu bruciato in mare assieme alla sua nave, e possiamo quindi ipotizzare che questo "funerale vichingo" valga anche per gli altri Velaryon, quantomeno per i maschi della famiglia. Laena, però, era una donna e per giunta una Targaryen acquisita, quindi potrebbe essere stata arsa su una pira.
