Nel maxi volume "Il mondo del ghiaccio e del fuoco, alla morte di Vyserys I si scatena la guerra per la successione tra la primogenita e designata erede al trono Rhaenyra e il primo figlio maschio Aegon. Stessa cosa narrata in "La Pirncipessa e la Regina".
Ora leggo nella sinossi della serie tv "House of the Dragon" che a contendere il trono a Rhaenyra è lo zio Daemon, fratello minore di Vyseris I. Aegon è presente nel cast tra i personaggi ricorrenti, neanche tra i principali.
A me qualcosa non torna
p.s. non ho letto "Fuoco e Sangue", lo confesso, sono molto indeciso se recuperarlo o meno, in questo momento è in corso la rilettura (senza correre) dei primi 5 libri in inglese sul kindle di amazon

Nel periodo precedente alla Danza la rivalità è in origine fra Daemon e Rhaenyra, poi però succedono una serie di eventi che li portano a far parte dello stesso schieramento.

La serie inizierà dal Gran Concilio del 101, quindi coprirà tutto il regno di Viserys I.
Il Gran Concilio di Harrenhal del 101 è il concilio nel quale si discusse del probolema della successione a favore di Vyseris, che quindi nel 103 divenne re e regnò fino alla sua morte, nel 129

Io non ho trovato sinossi ufficiali né ufficiose, tutto ciò che ho letto riguarda i personaggi/interpreti e scene di una guerra, che mi hanno fatto pensare alla Danza dei Draghi
Dalle varie informazioni, ufficiali o ufficiose, che sono girate in questi mesi, la prima stagione dovrebbe iniziare col Gran Concilio del 101 e terminare con lo scontro di Storm's End del 129.
Ci saranno probabilmente alcuni salti temporali nel corso della stagione, oltre che alcune differenze (per esempio, sembrerebbe che il Concilio vedrà scontrarsi Viserys e Rhaenys anziché Viserys e Laenor, la nascita di Rhaenyra potrebbe essere posticipata, giacché abbiamo una foto di Aemma Arryn incinta al concilio, e Alicent sarà coetanea di Rhaenyra).

Nel sito della HBO, compaiono attrici per Rhaenys e Alicent giovani. Secondo awoiaf, sarebbe stato castato pure un certo Michael Carter come re Jaehaerys I.
Queste informazioni da sole rendono evidente che la serie partirà prima dell'incoronazione di Viserys (magari solo un prologo, per dire), e proseguirà con scene collocate in un'epoca ben precedente alla Danza.
Poi se la Danza vera e propria inizi nella prima stagione oppure direttamente nella seconda (e la prima termini con la morte di Viserys) non saprei dire.
@Kevan LannisterTieni comunque conto che nei libri Aegon è molto più giovane di Rhaenyra, poco più vecchio dei suoi figli: ci sta che assuma importanza un po' più avanti.
Nella prima stagione infatti viene indicata tra i protagonisti sua madre 
Sappiamo che nel cast sono presenti le figlie di Borros Baratheon, delle quali in F&B si fa conoscenza in occasione dello scontro di Storm's End, per cui la stagione dovrebbe chiudersi a Danza appena cominciata.

Ti hanno già risposto altri ma aggiungo che la guerra degna di nota ( o comunque al centro della prima stagione ) dovrebbe essere quella delle Stepstones. E per quanto riguarda il concilio, sono uscite foto promozionali che non lasciano molto all' immaginazione. Riguardo alle età dei pg, ci saranno differenze rispetto ai libri e un salto temporale a metà stagione.
