Un bell'ambientino la produzione di HOTD: prima il litigio fra Condal e Sapochnik, con GRRM che ha sostenuto il primo mentre il secondo è uscito di scena; poi Condal che decide di ignorare le critiche di GRRM; GRRM che pubblica sul suo blog uno di ben sei (!) post contro le differenze della serie rispetto al libro, ma HBO chiede la cancellazione del post in questione (e addio agli altri cinque!); GRRM che rinnega HOTD durante le discussioni sulla terza stagione ed esce per alcuni mesi dalla produzione, salvo venir reintegrato...
Beninteso, questa è la versione dei fatti di GRRM. Quella di Condal resta che lui deve cercare di tener conto le esigenze di una produzione televisiva, mentre GRRM sarebbe intransigente.
