Anche secondo me non si è trattato semplicemente di "troppe candele accese" o qualcosa di simile, l'incendio può essere stato provocato da qualcosa/qualcuno.

Molto banalmente, a mio avviso: era il modo per esorcizzare il trauma e la paura.
