Sì, l'assenza del flirt Rhaenyra/Laena è stata molto criticata.
Tuttavia penso che gli autori abbiano sostituito il rapporto tra le due con quello tra Rhaenyra/Alicent. Se non sbaglio alcuni attori e registi hanno definito Rhaenyra "il primo amore di Alicent" e viceversa e hanno paragonato le due donne a una coppia divorziata.
In pratica Show!Alicent è una fusione tra Alicent e Criston Cole.
