La settimana scorsa, al Worldcon, un tizio avrebbe detto in faccia a GRRM che morirà presto, chiedendogli se Brandon Sanderson, lì presente, avrebbe terminato ASOIAF al posto suo. Il pubblico avrebbe reagito subissando di fischi questo simpaticone. Tra l'altro, pare che costui avesse ricevuto in passato una diffida legale dalla società di GRRM, per cui si sarebbe trattato di una grossa falla di sicurezza da parte dell'organizzazione del Worldcon.

E assumere sta gente porta solo a disastri finanziari , spero lo abbiano imparato.
Jeffe Kennedy, collega di GRRM, ha dichiarato che:
- TWOW sarebbe completo al 70% (quindi non ci sarebbero novità rispetto all'ultimo aggiornamento uscito tempo fa)
- GRRM avrebbe rifiutato offerte e opportunità per affidare ASOIAF ad altri autori, essendo determinato a concludere la saga da solo
- GRRM sarebbe in buona salute

Premesso che Jeffe Kennedy ha specificato che lei e GRRM non sono amici stretti, su Instagram le hanno chiesto se il 70% è una percentuale di anni fa o recente e lei ha risposto "recente". Quindi, se prendiamo per buone le sue parole, dal 2022 GRRM non ha fatto sostanziali progressi (che sia il 70 o il 75% cambia poco, resta sempre una stima approssimata).
Suppongo che in questi tre anni abbia scritto cose nuove e cancellato cose vecchie, rimanendo con un bilancio di TWOW in pareggio. Invece, potrebbe aver fatto progressi con F&B e D&E, se siamo ottimisti.

sinceramente mi viene sempre più da ridere , George ha dato una percentuale che ovviamente può essere sbagliata , ma anche un numero di pagine (fra 1100 e 1200 ) che sono già in mano all'editore , e l'editore se Martin scrivesse in ordine cronologico le avrebbe già pubblicate che Martin lo voglia o no , il problema è che mancano pezzi all'inizio , lo sanno praticamente tutti che il problema , oltre ai 20 povs in 15 locations , sono i terribili clffhangers di adwd .
Certo, se uno si inventa che le 1100 pagine sono "già in mano all'editore", è difficile pensare ad avanzamento zero o addirittura regressione.
Considerando invece che Martin non ha mai detto una frase del genere, e che è noto per ri-lavorare continuamente i manoscritti, aggiungendo, spostando e spesso cancellando e riscrivendo parti (o interi capitoli), il fatto che non abbia fatto progressi o che abbia perfino meno pagine di quante ne dichiarò 3 anni fa è teoricamente possibile (anche se non abbiamo conferme affidabili).
Quello che sappiamo per certo è che le stime che aveva dato nell'ottobre 2022 (1100-1200 pagine di manoscritto e 4/500 ancora da scrivere) sono le stesse che ha dato nel novembre 2023, a conferma che almeno in quei 13 mesi non aveva fatto progressi.
