A giudicare dai risultati finanziari delle aziende del ramo (ammetto che è da un pò che non mi aggiorno) dubito che i VR abbiano speranze nell'immediato futuro di diventare la nuova frontiera dell'intrattenimento. Che poi va ad applicarsi all'esistente, cioè videogames in primis.
Poi, sui videogames non sono del tutto d'accordo, negli ultimi anni i videogiochi hanno guadagnato parecchio terreno sul fronte artistico, ho giocato dei giochi piuttosto limitati in fatto di gameplay o di prestazioni tecniche solo per la storia che raccontavano. Se qualcuno ha giocato allo splendido The Banner Saga sa a cosa mi riferisco. Dal punto di vista della varietà e del gameplay non è neanche paragonabile a Warcraft 3 di quasi 15 anni fa, ma è realizzato e sceneggiato da dio.
Tornando ai CM, beh, è ovvio che il cinema di ogni periodo è figlio anche della scena culturale contemporanea. Concordo con Manifredde sul fatto che attualmente le cose non lascino ben sperare per la nascita di nuovi CM come noi trentenni li abbiamo conosciuti, e su questo punto di vista credo che apparteniamo ad una generazione privilegiata (privilegiata solo in questo temo, ma accontentiamoci...), ma qualche piccola sorpresa il cinema ce la riserva ancora.

Certe scene sono veramente inquietanti, ad esempio
quella del mostro con gli occhi sulle mani, ma anche la morte finale della protagonista e l'aspetto stesso del fauno
Secondo me tutta la trilogia di batman di Nolan è da considerarsi cult, non solo il cavaliere oscuro che ne è il fiore all'occhiello.
Concordo con signore degli anelli, matrix (anche se a me non piace), memento, requiem for a dream.
Vorrei aggiungere il cigno nero che ho rivisto recentemente. Vedo che qualcuno ha citato gli avengers, secondo me non troppo, piuttosto gli xmen, che hanno delle sceneggiature un po' più a 100.
Anche i film di sofia coppola sono un filone cult: the virgin suicides, lost in translation, marie antoinette (gli ultimi mi sono piaciuti di meno). E ancor più tutto ciò che esce dalla direzione di wes anderson: the life aquatic of steve zissou, the darjeeling limited, i tenenbaum, moonrise kingdom, grand budapest hotel, the fantastic mr.fox ("perché sono piccolo").

Sulla seconda domanda: la trilogia batman di Nolan, i primi film di sofia coppola, tutti i film di wes anderson non mi stancherei mai di rivederli.

D'accordo su Highlander e Matrix, ma solo presi come singoli film. I primi sono stati oggettivamente dei bei film che hanno fatto epoca, ma le saghe derivate sono decisamente da buttare, a parer mio... E su Wes Anderson quoto Silk, quell'uomo sforna un piccolo capolavoro dopo l'altro...
La trilogia di matrix è un cm di sicuro. Highlander ero stesso un cm. Waterworld penso di no. Doveva essere la versione acquatica di mad max ma non è venuto un granché..
