Stando alle parole di chi gli ha dato un'occhiata, era una roba scritta peggio di Got senza senso. Credo che la causa di Martin sia più che altro una questione di principio.
Certo che ormai lo dovrebbero sapere un pó tutti che non gradiva le fan fiction, e pubblicare addirittura un AWOW é stato un azzardo davvero sorprendente...

Penso che l'accusa sarà per la violazione del copyright, ma la ragione pratica, cioè la sua antipatia verso le fan fiction, mi sembra abbastanza meh. Capisco che vedere storpiata la sua creatura non sia bellissimo, ma da qui a denunciare mi sembra più un gesto di frustrazione verso un suo blocco dello scrittore. Il ragazzo da quel che ho visto ha caricato una quantità di informazioni senza senso, quindi non me la sento di dagli contro
Una delle ragioni per l'avversione di GRRM nei riguardi delle fanfiction sta nel fatto che non vuole essere accusato di aver copiato parti di trama dagli autori di queste storie alternative, cosa che è successa a suoi colleghi.

Ancora se la mena con il "non dovete seccarmi" dopo 12 anni e numerose promesse infrante? Davvero?
Gennaio 2015: racconta che a fine estate gli hanno spostato la deadline per finire il libro da fine ottobre a fine dicembre "Ero immensamente sollevato. Avevo due mesi in più! Agosto era stato un mese folle, troppi viaggi, troppi impegni...ma avevo Settembre, Ottobre, e ora anche Novembre e Dicembre. Ancora una volta, ero convinto di potercela fare"
A fine agosto 2014 era convinto di poter finire il libro in 4 mesi.
Ne sono passati 112 di mesi, e non soltanto non ha finito, ma lo troviamo a dire che potrebbero non bastargliene altri 20 di mesi...
Spero che questo pessimismo sia un modo per esorcizzare il timore di non completare TWOW e non il frutto di rassegnazione. Almeno adesso ha smesso di fare previsioni ottimistiche prontamente smentite dalla realtà.

L'unica spiegazione è che in realtà non ci abbia lavorato per diverso tempo perché bloccato/impegnato altrove, ma non ha mai avuto il coraggio di dirlo chiaramente (oppure ci ha lavorato davvero in maniera costante ma i suoi tempi di scrittura sono biblici).

Io credo invece che attorno al 2015 lui l'abbia davvero finito più o meno e poi praticamente cestinato, completamente insoddisfatto. Il processo di riscrittura invece potrebbe davvero essere andato molto a rilento, della serie non ci ha mai più rimesso mano per anni, un po' per i 1000 altri impegni e un po' per rigetto di fronte alle difficoltà di scrivere un libro che oltre a far avanzare la storia generale cominciasse anche a porre le basi per la chiusura di tutte le storyline dei libri precedenti. Il tutto lasciando fuori (temporalmente e narrativamente) solo gli eventi da inserire in un unico libro finale successivo. Praticamente un'impresa titanica di taglia e cuci che infatti pare abbia fatto la fine del Titanic.
