Illiryo è sicuramente una valida tesi, Ma non ne sarei così sicuro
Per me all' 80 % è qualcuno di Meeren o Marwin, che sta arrivando con la vento di cannella ed in fin dei conti è un maestro, quindi magari un siniscalco
Io penso che il siniscalco profumato sia Illyrio per tre motivi:
1) Viene menzionato separatamente dagli altri personaggi, come se si trattasse di una minaccia maggiore e forse un personaggio che Daenerys già conosce e che non si sta recando da lei.
2) Fra tutti i siniscalchi di ASOIAF quello più rilevante e più pericoloso nella storyline di Dany è sempre stato Illyrio
3) La parola "profumo" può essere considerata una vox media, in quanto può assumere a seconda dei casi un valore positivo e negativo. Quando Moqorro spiega a Tyrion che Selaesori Qhoran significa "Profumato Attendente", Tyrion risponde chiamando la nave "Fetido Attendente": guarda caso, sia Dany che Tyrion notano che Illyrio puzza, ma copre il suo lezzo con delle fragranze. Secondo me la nave che profuma e puzza allo stesso tempo è un messaggio in codice di GRRM: fate attenzione al siniscalco puzzolente!

Può darsi, ma potrebbero esserci delle ragioni narrative dietro questa scelta di GRRM.
All'inizio Dany potrebbe non essere persuasa del fatto che Aegon sia un Blackfyre, e solo capendo che Illyrio è il siniscalco si convincerà in tal senso. Oppure, come dicevo ieri, Daenerys potrebbe andare a Pentos sia per ricompensare il Principe Straccione, sia per fare una "chiacchierata" con Illyrio: avevi detto che secondo te Pentos potrebbe essere saltata, tuttavia ci sono alcune analisi del fandom americano ipotizzanti che l'attacco alla città possa essere un tassello importante per la trasformazione dark di Dany. Ricordiamo che a Pentos ufficialmente la schiavitù è stata abolita, quindi per Dany non ci sarebbero casus belli a giustificarla: sarebbe solo un atto di vendetta contro Illyrio e un do ut des nei riguardi del principe.

Se come penso la presa di potere di Aegon è antecedente all' arrivo di Dany, Illiryo sarà già ad Approdo del re
Magari Dany non lo sa, va a Pentos comunque e per unire l'utile a dilettevole conquista la città e la cede al principe, con notevole danno d'immagine per la paladina della democrazia.
