Gatto/viaggio in macchina: difficile connubio.
Viaggi brevi/medi li potrebbe sopportare, con tanto di gabbietta, e coccole a portata di mano.
Importante è che non veda il panorama perché si disorienta.
Viaggi lunghi...
servirebbero cassettina, acqua cibo e diverse sostarelle.
In teoria poi, perché non ne ho mai affrontati.
Quindi fai come se non fosse nemeno un consiglio. :)

Quando devo portarli dal veterinario per la vaccinazione è una vera tragedia!
La Teppy miagola incessantemente da quando partiamo da casa a quando arriviamo a destinazione, e viceversa al ritorno; 
Gibson addirittura si fa venire gli isterismi, l'ultima volta si è addirittura strappato un'unghia nel tentativo di aprire il trasportino! 
La Sally frignotta, per un po',ma poi è talmente terrorizzata che si immobilizza come una statua di marmo, coda gonfia a mo' di piumino swiffer ed occhi spiritati stile film horror
La cosa triste è che ovviamente non ce li posso portare contemporaneamente dal veterinario.....sono da sola, e se anche avessi 3 trasportini, non riuscirei a farlo; quindi mi tocca farmi 3 viaggi......
Anni fa avevamo dei gatti parecchio allergici al veteinario.. L' unica fortuna per noi è che il veterinario è di fronte a casa. Con entrambi i gatti la procedura era la seguente: prendi il gatto in casa, chiudilo dentro la gabbiette/trasportino, scendi dal veterinario, farsi prestare dallo stesso una gabbietta speciale con una parete che si sposta verso l' altra tipo morsa, agguanta il gatto precedentemente rinchiuso nel trasportino, infila il gatto con l' inganno o la forza nel trasportino speciale, porta giù il gatto-a parecchio incavolata, iniezione di tranquillante dal veterinario e finalmente visita.. 
Prima di usare questo metodo abbiamo provato senza nulla ma i risultati sono stati terribili.. Il gatto una volta mi ha morsicato bucando il guanto da manovale prestatomi dal veterinario e l' unghia.. La cosa ridicola è che i gatti trovatelli che abbiamo accudito negli anni dal veterinario erano molto più mansueti dei nostri.. 
Per i viaggi brevi, in genere i miei stanno tranquilli (hanno un ottimo rapporto con il loro veterinario, anche se è merito suo, più che loro :) ); mi è capitato anche di far viaggi lunghi (3-4 ore), alcuni hanno dormito alla grossa, per altri ho dovuto usare il Feliway spray, con risultati soddisfacenti. Unica nota negativa: costa un sacco :-(

Bruny è a metà tra Gibson e Teppy ho idea: si fa prendere dal panico e inizia ad ipersalivare e miagolare con voce molto profonda e straziante.
Volevo provare a portarla in macchina con la pettorina da cintura di sicurezza, così non si sente rinchiusa.

Si. Il Feliway funziona. Lo consigliano allevatori e veterinari anche per l'inserimento dei gatti in un nuovo ambiente, in particolare se ve ne sono già presenti. Certo è un po' caruccio. Io ho usato solo il diffusore.
Anche io ho il problema del veterinario. Il piccolo Ben Quick è terrorizzato, Arya gli ringhia, Aphy (Aphrodite) sembra parecchio infastidita: quando devo metterla nel trasportino devo prenderla alle spalle mentre dorme, poi metterla dentro "di sedere" mentre sfodera i suoi unghioni proporzionati alla mole.
Tutti e 3 miagolano. Meno male che devo fare solo un chilometro.
Non so quanto la cosa sia soggettiva, ma il mio Darth Vader gatto affronta tranquillamente viaggi di 8-9 ore.
Il giorno della partenza, prima di metterci in viaggio, evito di dargli da mangiare (al massimo durante una sosta, ma anche con il cibo nella ciotola è raro vederlo mangiare).
In ogni caso, dargli del cibo prima di partire è un errore che puoi commettere una volta sola.
Inoltre, dal momento che viaggia nel trasportino, ogni tanto gli faccio sgranchire le zampe.
Più che altro, trascorre le ore di viaggio dormendo. E infatti, giunti a destinazione, si trasforma nello Spietato Distruttore del Sonno. 
C'è da aggiungere, però, che il mio micio ha affrontato lunghi viaggi fin da cucciolo.
Le prime volte cominciava fin da subito ad ipersalivare ed a lamentarsi come un disperato, anche se va tenuto in conto che, se il viaggio è da sud a nord, i primi chilometri sono un percorso rallistico.
Ora si agita soltanto quando lo accompagno dal veterinario.
Temo non gli sia mai andato a genio.
Comunque, sembrerà banale, ma in caso di viaggio (che sia con gatti, cani o metalupi) è sempre bene aver a disposizione dell'acqua. E delle salviettine umidificate. 
Postilla: in caso di viaggi nei periodi estivi, consiglierei di prestare sempre un'attenzione maggiore. Soprattutto in caso di sosta.

L'ho scoperto oggi
Con me in viaggio il Feliway ha funzionato: devo dire che il gatto in questione (l'altra che era in viaggio con me se ne è infischiata altamente, ha trascorso il viaggio di 4 ore e mezzo a godersi il panorama) è di solito un tranquillone, però quella volta era un po' su di giri.
Per dare loro acqua durante le soste ho usato una siringa, è più funzionale ed evita i vari balletti con ciotole, che finirebbero inevitabilmente rovesciate.
Pensando che in trasportino viaggino sacrificati, ho preso un trasportone (lato lungo 96 cm) pieghevole con finestrone a zanzariera che consente di sgranchirsi le zampe in sicurezza e di di non vedere il sole a spicchi, ovviamente munito di traversina perché una pipì può scappare all'improvviso (dentro erano muniti di cassettina con sabbietta al silicio, che è la più funzionale per situazioni del genere, ma mai dire mai); un'altra cosa che li ha aiutati è la radio accesa, è un rumore familiare e li ha tranquillizzati.
Mi sa che la questione come diceva Aemon è molto soggettiva.
Non mi era mai capitato un gatto che detestasse la macchina come questo... infatti gli altri sono sempre riuscita a portarli in vacanza con me.
Sicuramente non ha neanche ragioni per amarla, finora l'ha usata per mete poco entusiasmanti.
È un peccato perché se per lei non fosse un calvario ci piacerebbe portarla in vacanza... o anche solo farle fare dei viaggi più sereni dal veterinario!
Mi procurerò un feliway e vi farò sapere al prossimo tentativo... tra qualche mese ha il vaccino...

Il feliway c'è in varie forme. Io ho provato solo il diffusore a ogni inserimento di un nuovo gatto. Ma c'è anche spray e in salviettine. Per le ferie ho contattato una pet sitter per lasciare i gatti nel loro ambiente. Se dovevo lasciarli in giro nemmeno pensavo a partire. Ho già avuto un colloquio conoscitivo. Sembra una signora brava e competente.
I miei sono lamentosi ma nessuno ha (per ora) mostrato aggressività verso gli umani. In genere cerco di spostarli il meno possibile perchè soffrono molto l'essere chiusi nel trasportino e messi in auto dato che non sono stati abituati.
Una volta però trovai una gatta abbandonata in un garage e (giuro!) riuscii a portarla a casa mia, 3-4 minuti, facendola stare seduta sul sedile posteriore dell'auto (con solo la morosa a sorvegliare). Non fece una piega ma credo fosse un'eccezione.
