Io credo che non sia il caso di pensare a un finale idealista. Martin si ispira alla storia reale, e nella storia del mondo non è mai esistito un periodo libero da guerre, sopraffazioni e ingiustizie, perchè questa è la natura dell'uomo. Io sono abbastanza convinta che il finale, nell'ipotesi ormai fantascientifica che un giorno uscisse, rispecchierebbe questo punto di vista. Analogamente non mi stupirebbe che le varie profezie risultassero fallaci, mera proiezione dei desideri degli uomini piuttosto che della volontà di un dio.
Ci sono già state alcune profezie che si sono avverate, per esempio le visioni del Fantasma di Cuore Alto.
