Vanity Fair ha pubblicato un servizio su Game of Thrones. Oltre alle foto, c'è anche una breve intervista agli autori e a Martin, che tocca la questione "serie che supera il punto in cui sono arrivati i libri". In particolare:
Vanity Fair contributing editor Jim Windolf talks to George R. R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire, the ongoing book series on which the popular HBO show Game of Thrones is based, who tells Windolf that the show is indeed catching up to the books: “They are. Yes. It’s alarming.”
Martin tells Windolf, “I can give them the broad strokes of what I intend to write, but the details aren’t there yet. I’m hopeful that I can not let them catch up with me.”
Mi par di capire che quindi, nonostante un po' speri ancora che non succeda, Martin sia quasi rassegnato al fatto che molto probabilmente, il sorpasso sarà inevitabile.

Bha, veramente, tradotto alla lettera, quel "I can not let them catch up with me" sarebbe "non posso permettere loro di raggiungermi"......quindi il senso generale della frase potrebbe essere che "Martin spera ancora di riuscire a non farsi raggiungere dalla serie TV".
Ma, conoscendolo, noi sappiamo perfettamente che ciò avverrà sicuramente, nostro malgrado...ed anche suo....
