Oddio questa discussione merita una risposta solo per il titolo 
Comunque io credo che la circolarità e replicabilità degli eventi sia suggerita nel testo stesso (non a caso sembra di cogliere riferimenti presso diverse culture agli stessi eventi accaduti in un lontano passato, ma credo sia anche una specie di "morale" finale che ricorda quella gattopardiana e sarebbe molto in linea con il finale agrodolce), ma non è da intendersi come difetto o mancanza di originalità, è anzi una scelta precisa dell'autore e rimanda a una caratteristica che hanno molte mitologie e testi antichi. Negare questo significherebbe togliere anche quei meriti che Martin ha.
Che poi DeD si siano ispirati a eventi letti appositamente dubito, è più probabile che sia stato Martin stesso a indicarglieli.
Quanto a Bran Re (soluzione che fa venire l'orticaria anche a me) all'epoca sono state fornite le prove che dimostrerebbero come ci sia un fondamento legato alla mitologia irlandese cui il personaggio di Bran pare ispirato.
E' sempre un dispiacere che quando tutti i lupi dovrebbero sollevarsi, un posto possa rimanere vuoto.
