Trovo che sarebbe una bella idea, creare un topi con l'elenco di tutte le teorie messe in piedi dai fan e che negli anni successivi siano state smentite (sia dalla lettura del libro successivo che dallo stesso Martin)

Ho corretto il titolo perchè, da regolamento, è obbligatorio aggiungere il livello di spoiler desiderato. In questo caso ho messo TWOIAF, ovvero The World of Ice and Fire (l'Enciclopedia), il che significa che non c'è obbligo di indicazione spoiler per ciò che è già stato pubblicato in italiano. Sono sempre da indicare invece quelli provenienti dalla serie tv.

6x5 di GOT si è ampiamente smentita la teoria che vuole Hodor grande estraneo 
e quella di Hodor=Aegon figlio di Elia martell e Rhaegar

Sarebbero figli di Aerys, senza alcun dubbio, se fossero stati concepiti durante la messa a letto di Joanna Lannister, il giorno del matrimonio tra lei e Tywin Lannister. Faccio riferimento alle parole che Barrystan Selmy rivolge a Daenerys, a proposito del padre, re Aerys II, in A Dance With Dragons.
Barristan parla di prendersi delle libertà, non di stupro.
Mi ricordo di aver letto una teoria che mi è rimasta molto impressa, per la quale Asha in realtà sarebbe stata un maschio. Balon la avrebbe "nascosta" come femmina per evitarle lo stesso destino di Theon. Tutto smentito da una delle più dettagliate scene di sesso di tutta la saga in AFFC.

Alla luce della serie TV in cui vediamo Manifredde essere Benjen Stark, direi che il caro Martin sia un po bugiardello, che ne dite?

penso invece che D&D abbiano fuso il pg di Benjen con quello di Manifredde. La rivelazione di Martin su Manifredde fu una risposta scritta data al suo editore, non avrebbe avuto alcuna ragione di mentire.
